The legendary premiere of The Star Makers was held in 1981 by the Rock Theater with great success. Since then, the popularity of the piece has continued unabated, since the 1990s it has been included in the repertoire of several theaters and has been invited to international theater festivals. In 2020, the legendary performance will return to Budapest with an exciting new presentation that meets the demands of our time.
The story takes place in ancient Rome, the protagonist in Nero's time, AD. The events begin in 54, the last year of the reign of Emperor Claudius, and continue until Nero's death. Emperor Claudius, already incapacitated for reign, conspires with Agrippina Seneca's wife to poison Agrippina's first-born child, Nero, into emperor. The two of them, Agrippina and Seneca, are the star makers, the cleaners of those on the road, the next to be anointed and then overthrown. Guided by the young emperor as a puppet, they can easily manage the Roman Empire from the background. However, Nero, cherishing his poetic ambitions, will soon override Seneca and Agrippina's plans.
The emergence, the rise, and the fall of Nero are lessons of all ages. The rock opera "Celebrity Makers" is a special musical theater experience and relaxation for all generations, presented by PS Production on the stage of Újpest Event Space and directed by Saint Vajk.
